Restoran Rebung, Bangsar

This restaurant is a bungalow house situated at Lorong Maarof, Bangsar just 7 km from KL city and nearby LRT Bangsar station. If you happen to miss your grandmother's cooking do drop by to this place because they actually serve authentic 'tradisional masakan melayu kampung' (traditional malay foods). All recipes were originally from Chef Ismail Ahmad, the owner himself. He has a business partner which is Datuk Dr. Sheikh Muszaphar (first Malaysian that went to International Space Station).

The decor for open dining is more or less makes you feel at home. Sometimes you can hear the noise made by vehicles as it is very near to the road. Buffet style malay foods are nicely arranged at one corner. During lunch hour, the buffet will cost you RM35 per pax. There are few stalls in front of the buffet corner that serve ikan bakar (grilled fish), laksa, mee soto, cucur udang, pisang goreng and popiah basah.

However, desserts like sago gula melaka, cakes, jelly, kuih lopes with other malay traditional kueh are serve inside the air-conditioned dining room. During weekend the air-conditioned dining room is usually full so it's better to make your reservation earlier.

Here are some of the foods on my table. The air-conditined room is full so we had no choice but to dine outside. The Malay foods are tasty and delicious, reminds me of my mother and grandma's cooking.
