Twilight Saga : Twilight, New Moon, Eclipse & Breaking Dawn

Hi..it has been a long time since my last review on foods.
At the moment, I am preoccupied with the twilight saga novels after watching the movie last week. The movie can't really satisfy my thirst for details of the characters such as Isabella Swan, Edward & the Cullens family. Personally, I always love vampires stories. When I was 15, I read The Vampire Diaries series and fallen in love with the characters.

However, I have much difficulty trying to buy all the series part 1,2,3 & 4 after the movie was released. To my suprised all were sold out at many bookstores such as MPH (Alamanda, Subang Parade, Curve, SACC) and Borders (Curve). I was frustrated at first and later decided to pre-book the series on mphonline.com. Just to make sure the novels arrive on my doorstep before they get into the bookstores. Luckily, I already received the Twilight and New Moon and still waiting for the others. My husband just smile at my obsession with these characters in Twilight and teasing me as being the 'late teenager' eventhough I still feel as if I'm seventeen at heart when reading these novels :)

For your info, Twilight is a series of four vampire-based fantasy/romance novels by the American author Stephenie Meyer. It follows the adventures of Isabella "Bella" Swan, a teenager who moves to Forks, Washington, and finds her life turned upside-down when she falls in love with a vampire named Edward Cullen.

My work trip to germany last month

Hi, these are few pictures that I would like to share with readers out there. It's a 2 weeks work trip to Germany which I have attended in November. Autumn was at 5 to 10 degrees Celcius during the day and the temperature dropped from 1 to 3 degrees at night. I really enjoyed my stay there. It took us nearly 16 hours from Kuala Lumpur International Airport (KLIA) via Changi Airport, Singapore (3 hours transit) to our destination, Frankfurt.

Our company bought a new analytical instrument from Germany to analyse C,N,S elements in fertilizer, plant and soil. Therefore I was sent to the manufacturer's headquater to learn on the application, operation and maintenance of this particular instrument. The HQ was located in Hanau, a small town near Frankfurt (about 30 minutes drive) and famous for its Brothers Grimm .

The training was free and part of the purchase agreement, I've met few participants from US and India too. The manufacturer want to make sure that all customers were properly trained. For example in my case, I had the chance to discuss with their chemist and engineer on solutions to my problems when using the instrument. The training lasted for a week, so we have another week for sightseeing at our own expenses. During a tour around the HQ, I was informed on the production of different models of their instruments. The interesting part was all instruments were made only when they received orders from customers worldwide. Amazing just to think it was actually 'sort of' a handmade instrument instead of being produced by machines for mass production.

After the training, I stayed at National Hotel in Frankfurt which situated nearby the Frankfurt Main Train Station for one night.( My journey in Frankfurt onwards was already planned and paid or some pre-booked from Malaysia using Internet and credit cards through their websites. I would like to thank Tripadvisor.com for their reviews which helped me when booking several hotels in Frankfurt and Paris.). Then, I took an ICE train to Paris Est. Train Station, France. The scenery during the four hours journey by train was breathtaking considering this was my first trip there. In Paris, I stayed at the Du'cadran hotel which was ten minutes walk to Eiffel Tower. It was a nice hotel with good location and friendly staffs especially at the front desk. They were more than willing to go that extra mile and provided me with all the necessary informations during my stay at the hotel. They also speak perfect English which was a big relief because I don't understand French at all except for few words like bonjour, merci, bon voyage, le chateau, femme, marche, musee and oui ;)

After a pre-booked guided minibus tour by a famous Paris sightseeing agency I went back to Frankfurt and stayed at Concorde Hotel. I have stayed in Paris for two nights and managed to visit many famous monuments, museums, historical places, artist square(Place du Tertre) and especially the Eiffel Tower. One of the most memorable experience was a cruise along Seine River at night with the city illuminated by lights. Paris indeed has many nicknames, but the most famous is 'The City of Lights'. Besides that, I also visited Versailles and its huge palace where Marie Antoinette spent her life before she was executed by guillotine at the height of the French Revolution in 1793 for the crime of treason.

Just want to share my experience here that throughout the journey I found DB Bahn was a superb, hassle free, comfortable and enjoyable way to travel in Germany. I even bought extra Rail passes for 4 days. Rail passes that I bought can be used for 4 days with unlimited rides using German trains at a much cheaper price. Even though some of my collegues suggested to fly with Lufthansa (budget flight)but I prefer to enjoy the scenery by trains. I also had the chance to visit Zeil, a popular shopping area in Frankfurt; I have visited Cologne and Heidelberg too. Frankly speaking, I really enjoyed my training and sightseeing there. Even though, when I got back to M'sia I realized that I have spent more money than I intended to :O (OMG!)

Kelab Golf Sultan Abdul Aziz, Shah Alam- Buffet Ramadhan

Restoran Rebung, Bangsar

This restaurant is a bungalow house situated at Lorong Maarof, Bangsar just 7 km from KL city and nearby LRT Bangsar station. If you happen to miss your grandmother's cooking do drop by to this place because they actually serve authentic 'tradisional masakan melayu kampung' (traditional malay foods). All recipes were originally from Chef Ismail Ahmad, the owner himself. He has a business partner which is Datuk Dr. Sheikh Muszaphar (first Malaysian that went to International Space Station).

The decor for open dining is more or less makes you feel at home. Sometimes you can hear the noise made by vehicles as it is very near to the road. Buffet style malay foods are nicely arranged at one corner. During lunch hour, the buffet will cost you RM35 per pax. There are few stalls in front of the buffet corner that serve ikan bakar (grilled fish), laksa, mee soto, cucur udang, pisang goreng and popiah basah.

However, desserts like sago gula melaka, cakes, jelly, kuih lopes with other malay traditional kueh are serve inside the air-conditioned dining room. During weekend the air-conditioned dining room is usually full so it's better to make your reservation earlier.

Here are some of the foods on my table. The air-conditined room is full so we had no choice but to dine outside. The Malay foods are tasty and delicious, reminds me of my mother and grandma's cooking.

Marche,The Curve- Mutiara Damansara

Marche is actually a fresh concept pioneered by Movenpick in Europe in 1983. It is a 'fresh market' with all the finest raw ingredients which they will prepare and cook at their many food stations. After picking your food you can choose different seating areas with unique names.

You will be given a passport at the entrance of the restaurant and remember not to lose it! Or else you will receive a RM200 penalty, which will then be donated to a charity of your choice. Haha… sounds interesting.
Everytime you want to order your food at any of the food station, they will ask for your passport and put a stamp on it. You will eat first and pay later, the total bill will be calculated based on stamps on your passport. Good thing is you only pay for what you wanna eat. You can check the prices at each food station.

The display of colourful fresh ingredients is really eye-catching. Most of the foods you order will be cooked right away in front of you. Price for each food is quite reasonable, but there will be additional cost to your menu if you choose for extra toppings and side dishes. For example, I ordered a plain Swiss Rosti (Rösti is a potato dish from Switzerland)and add extra cheese to it. The additional cheese cost me RM 4/=. So be careful when asking for that extras ;)

Raw ingredients at Grill Station

Children's playground

Fish and chips

Swiss Rosti with extra cheese

Black pepper chicken

Fresh carrot juice

yummy mushroom soup

This is my Marche passport. Total bill for that day RM 85.60..
